A ferry got stuck in a hidden shoal in the middle of the Meghna River while carrying 14 vehicles from Laxmipur's Moju Chowdhury terminal to Bhola's Ilisha.
The ferry Konokchapa had been stuck since 5am. Till 7pm, it could not be salvaged.
However, Manager of Bhola-Laxmipur Ferry Services Abul Alam Hawlader said they would try to rescue the ferry with the help of another ferry Kishani during high tides at night.
Meanwhile, a long tailback had been created on both sides of the river causing immense suffering to hundreds of passengers.
The ferry got stuck at Bonger Char near Bhola due to low water level in the river. The ferry was carrying two buses, 10 goods laden truck and two pick up vans.
