The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have suspended its classes and examinations till Monday.
The decision was taken at the syndicate meeting of the university on Thursday afternoon.
SUST syndicate committee member Professor Faruk Uddin told the Dhaka Tribune that the university administration took the decision considering security of all and to avert any untoward situation.
A five-member committee has been formed headed by Mathmatics department teacher Professor Dr Elias Uddin Bishwas, to investigate the attack on the BCL leader.
Another three-member committee has also been formed to ensure security of its teachers, students and employees.
On Wednesday, miscreants attacked Chhatra League leader Uttam Kumar Das, 30, a student of masters’ level of Social Welfare department and also former joint secretary of Sylhet city unit of Chhatra League with lethal weapon, leaving him critically injured.
The activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit have been enforcing indefinite strike on the campus from Thursday morning, protesting the attack on a BCL leader.
