A section of youth trying to join IS, claims Ahle Sunnat

A section of youth of Bangladesh has been trying to establish network with the members of Islamic State (IS) through internet with an aim to intensify militancy in the country.

Ahle Sunnat leaders of Chittagong chapter made the claim at round table meeting at Engineer Abdul Khalek Auditorium of the Chittagong Press Club on Tuesday.

“If the government does not increase vigilance over the certain Kowmi Madrashas, online activists and the bloggers, and the militant group may take the chance for hatching conspiracy to intensify militancy in the country,” said Advocate Mosaheb Uddin Bokhtiar, member secretary of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Coordinating Committee.

He was reading out keynote paper on the round table discussion entitled “Islam vs Militancy: Bangladesh Perspective”.

Mosaheb said although IS group was an Ohabi-backed militant organization, the western media and the intellectuals have been attempting to tag them as Sunni militant.

Due to a recent call of Al Qaida leaders, the government should keep eyes on the activities of the online activists and bloggers as they easily misguided the youth in bid to recruit into the militant group, suggested the Ahle Sunnat leader.

“The Sunnis have no connection with IS group. If the IS has been tagged as Sunni, the real terrorists will remain under veil,” he claimed.

Referring the murder of Mowlana Nurul Islam Faruqi, Moshahed reiterated that JMB and Ansarullah Bangla Team had killed their leader.

The government would have to take the point seriously and start curbing the militancy’s root from the country, he added.
