Eviction drive near cantonment
Railway authorities have started evicting illegal establishments in Dhaka cantonment area as part of a new drive to remove illegal structures set up along rail tracks in the capital.
The fresh eviction drive in the area started around 9am on Tuesday.
Khaleda to address Brahmanbaria rally
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to address a rally organised by 20-party alliance in Brahmanbaria on Tuesday afternoon.
The rally has been organised demanding election under caretaker government and protesting abductions, killings, repression, national broadcast policy and empowering the parliament to impeach Supreme Court judges.

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman has said rich countries should ensure fair and transparent distribution of climate change aid to poor nations.
He made the statement while addressing a human chain jointly formed by TIB and Action Aid at TSC area of Dhaka University around 11am on Tuesday.
Bangladeshi hajj pilgrim dies in Saudi
Another Bangladeshi hajj pilgrim died in Saudi Arabia on Monday, raising the death toll to 22.
The deceased is Md Abdul Hoq, 66, of Begumganj in Noakhali district.

20,000 Yaba tablets seized in Teknaf
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in a drive have seized 20,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Lehda hill area of Teknaf upazila early Tuesday.
Lt Col Abu Zar Al Zahid, commanding officer of BGB Battalion 42 said: "Acting on a tip off, a team of BGB 42 conducted a drive in Lehda hill area around 4:30am and recovered 20,000 pieces of yaba tablets in an abandoned condition."
PM accorded warm reception at New York
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has accorded a warm reception as she arrived at New York to attend the 69th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday.
An Emirates flight carrying the prime pinister and members of her entourage reached J F Kennedy (JFK) Airport at 10:20am (local time).
US strikes Islamic States in Syria
The United States and partner nations are carrying out the first air strikes against Islamic State targets in Syria, the Pentagon said on Monday.
"I can confirm that US military and partner nation forces are undertaking military action against (Islamic State) terrorists in Syria using a mix of fighter, bomber and Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles," Rear Admiral John Kirby, Pentagon press secretary, said in a statement.
