The Khulna City Corporation has decided to run cattle market under its management after getting no response despite repeated calls for tender submission for the lease of makeshift cattle market for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Apart from setting up market, the city authority will also be able to check the spread of anthrax.
The KCC authorities have invited tender on September 4, September 14 and September 20 for arranging makeshift cattle market, but nobody showed interest in securing its lease through buying or submitting tender schedule.
The KCC called an emergency meeting on Sunday with Anisur Rahman, acting mayor of the KCC, in the chair and took the decision.
The corporation sets up cattle market at Jhoraghat Kitchen Market every year for the sale of sacrificial animals on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
M Iddris Siddik, secretary of the KCC, said sale of sacrificial animal would start on September 30.
