The government will arrange a special reception with souvenirs for the foreign tourists, who will arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal Airport, on September 27, World Tourism Day.
Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir, chief executive officer (CEO) of BTB, made the disclosure at a press conference at his office on Monday.
Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day with the theme “Tourism and Community Development”, he said.
The day's programme will begin with a colourful rally led by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and state minister for CHT Affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing.
The rally will start from Matsha Bhaban at 8.30am and lead to TSC of Dhaka University via Doel Chattar.
The BTB will arrange colourful rallies and discussion meetings on various aspects of tourism in different districts with tourist attractions.
The BTB will also organise a debate competition on tourism at TSC Cafeteria of Dhaka University with support from Dhaka University Debating Society at 3pm.
The BTB, the National Tourism Organization (NTO), Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) and different associations of the tour operators, hotel and motel owners and travel agents will hold various programmes, Kabir said.
The BPC and BTB along with other stakeholders will hold a roundtable discussion on this year's theme of the day at Hotel Abakash at Mohakhali at 4pm.
The BPC will organise a food festival at its outlets along with other renowned hotels from September 26 to 28 to mark the day.
The national daily newspapers will publish special supplement while television and radio will broadcast various programmes marking the day.
Additional Secretary of civil aviation and tourism ministry Abu Hena M Rahmatul Munim also spoke at the press briefing.
