Awami League-backed candidate Abdul Alim has unofficially won the Fulgazi upazila by-poll, getting 47, 266 votes.
His nearest contestant BNP-supported candidate Mahtab Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury Minar bagged only 4,249 votes.
Assistant Returning Officer Mahidur Rahman told about the unofficial result of the by-poll to the Dhaka Tribune.
The voting began at 8am and ended at 4pm on Sunday without any break.
On May 20, Fulgazi Upazila Chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram was shot and burned to death at Academy area in Feni town.
After the assassination of Ekram, the Election Commission (EC) declared the position vacant.
