Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave for the United States on Sunday night to attend the 69th UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
An Emirates flight carrying the Prime Minister and members of her entourage is scheduled to take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here at 9.30 pm.
The flight is expected to reach John F Kennedy International Airport in New York at 8.25 am (New York time) on Monday.
On their way to New York, Sheikh Hasina and her entourage members would make a stopover at Dubai for about two hours.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver her speech on September 27 at the UNGA on behalf of Bangladesh, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali told a media briefing on Wednesday.
"Like the previous years, the Bangladesh premier would deliver her address in Bangla following the footsteps of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and chair or join a number of international events on the UNGA sidelines," he said.
The theme of the UNGA this year is "Delivering on and Implementing a Transformative Post-2015 Development Agenda" while it was likely to adopt the UN's Post Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), as the MDG timeframe is set to expire next year.
The foreign minister said the Prime Minister would also speak on issues of international peace and security, women empowerment, measures to negate impacts of climate change and democracy also highlighting Bangladesh viewpoints and achievements in these regard.
Ali said during her weeklong visit, the prime minister is expected to hold bilateral talks with heads of state or government of India, Nepal, Chile and Belarus.
"Besides, our prime minister is set to attend a function to mark the 40th anniversary of Bangladesh's UN membership which is also expected to be joined by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and high-level delegates of several other important countries," he said.
Ali said the finance minister, expatriates welfare and overseas employment minister, environment and forest minister, food minister, and the state minister for foreign affairs would accompany the premier in the tour besides himself.
The foreign minister said the premier's entourage would also include several lawmakers, senior officials, eminent social figures, journalists and business leaders.
