The authority of Fazle Rabby Hall of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) has closed the dormitory following factional clashes between two groups of its residential students.
The students were asked to vacate the hall within 6pm on Thursday.
The decision came from an emergency academic council meeting in the afternoon.
Dr Hasanur Rahman Khan, provost of Fazle Rabbi Hall, said: “Some students locked into clashes on Wednesday night over seniority issue between two groups of residential students.”
Following the incident, we sat on meeting on Thursday noon and ended with giving time to DMC unit BCL president Humayun Islam Sumon and General Secretary Fahad Bin Kabir to solve the problem, he added.
However, the two groups again locked into clashes around 3.30pm over the same issue that led the authority to close the hall.
“We decided to vacate the hall immediately on security purpose,” the provost said.
