At least two people have been killed and three others injured as a speedy-driven bus ran a CNG-run auto-rickshaw over in the capital's Shahbagh.
The deceased are Firoza Begum and Chanburu.
Dhaka Medical college Police outpost In-charge SI Mojammel Hossain said: “A recklessly-driven passenger bus of ETC Paribahan ran a CNG-run auto-rickshaw over in front of Ruposhi Bangla Hotel near Shahbagh intersection around 6:45am, leaving two women dead on the spot and three others injured.”
“The injured were admitted at the DMCH.”
Witnesses said the driver of the bus was driving recklessly as the road was free of traffic due to Jamaat's first phase 24-hour hartal.
Relatives said the victims came from Barisal to visit a relative in the capital's Mohammadpur area.
