Tax payment is a family tradition

The family members of late Dr M M Amzad Hossain feel proud as they have been recognised for paying tax.

Seven members from one family received individual tax cards this year for their contribution to the national exchequer.

“We feel proud of our entire family that pays taxes and we all together received recognition from the government,” said M A Haider Hussain, managing director of Drug International. “We all learned this practice from our father Dr. MM Amzad Hussain who maintained tax files since 1952.”

Late MM Amjad Hussain, Mohammad Eusuf, MA Haider Hussain, Laila Hussain, Husne Ara Hussain, Rubaiyat Farzana Hussain and Khwaja Tajmahal represent ATI Limited, a leading company of the country, though all of them received awards in individual category.

“We have been in business for the fourth generation. Tax payment has become part of our family heritage,” said Hussain. He also said the government, on the other hand, should be more service-oriented as services should be reached at the citizen’s doorstep.

“Awareness should be raised among the people so they feel enthusiasm to pay their tax which will bring development in the country,” he added.
