Pinak 6 capsize: Probe body submits report

The seven-member probe committee, formed to look into the capsize of Pinak 6, has submitted a report to the shipping ministry on Sunday afternoon.

Committee chief Nur-ur-Rahman, also a joint secretary of the shipping ministry, submitted the probe report to Shipping Ministry Secretary Syed Monjurul Islam at the secretariat in the capital.

Monjurul confirmed of the probe report submission to the Dhaka Tribune.

However, he didn't make any disclosure on the report.

On August 4, launch ML Pinak 6 capsized in Padma River near the Mawa terminal with around 300 passengers on board.

So far, dead bodies of 48 passengers were recovered and 62 people are still missing, says official data. More than a hundred people swam ashore to safety.

The shipping ministry formed the seven-member body headed by its Joint Secretary Nurur Rahman hours after the capsize incident took place.

Besides, Department of Shipping has formed another four-member committee with Engineer and Ship Survey official Nazmul Haque as the convener of the committee.
