GP offers free Facebook for all

Mobile phone operator Grameenphone (GP) has decided to offer browsing Facebook for free, to all of its users.

Starting from September 15, the offer will remain active everyday from midnight, 12am, till evening, 6pm. This works on all devices.

Free Facebook browsing will be available for any data pack subscription starting until further notice.

Allan Bonke, chief marketing officer of Grameenphone, disclosed this at a press conference in the capital on Sunday.

“Grameenphone is approaching the significant milestone to five crore customers in Bangladesh and we want our customers to enjoy free browsing in the world's most popular social media platform,” Bonke said.

“We are taking another step to make it simple and relevant for everyone to go online by the campaign,” he added.

Grameenphone offered free Facebook browsing for their five crore customers without any pre-registration, the official informed.

The leading mobile operating company also informed that over 11.7 crore mobile connections exist in the country and an increasing number is also availing data services.

According to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Service (BTRC), the total number of Internet Subscribers reached around 3.93 crore at the end of July, 2014.
