International military conference kicks off today

Senior land forces military officials from the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean region is set to meet at a four day-long international seminar today to share views on contemporary issues of common concerns, mainly the non-traditional security matters.

Nearly 120 delegates from 25 countries are set to participate at the 38th Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS) at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in the capital.

The Bangladesh Army, in cooperation with US Army Pacific (USARPAC) is hosting the event for the second time.

The senior military officials ranked between Lieutenant Colonel and Lieutenant General will discuss different issues with the theme – A New Focus on the Asia-Pacific Region: Opportunities and Challenges for Land Forces.

The seminar is expected to contribute to regional security and stability through cooperative approaches including the exchange of information on four key topics.  The participating countries include are Afghanistan, Australia and Bangladesh.
