BR (East) evicts illegal establishments in Chittagong

The authorities of Bangladesh Railway (BR) East Zone have evicted about 100 different kinds of shops which were set up occupying the both sides of rail track in Chittagong city’s Sholoshahar Number Two Gate area.

Divisional Estate Official Md Jasim Uddin of BR (East Zone) said that they, in a three-hour drive, have evicted the illegally established mobile markets from the sides of the rail lines.

This kind of drive would be going on, he informed.

Adjoining to Sholoshahar Karnaphuli Market, the railway track’s both sides were occupied by mobile kitchen market while the markets were removed only when any train crossing and rest of the time both the sides were occupied by the mobile hawkers.

The BR authorities, however, turned a blind eye over the matter for a long while higher authorities ordered BR East Zone to remove illegal occupiers from both sides of the railway tracks after the mishap of the capital’s Kawranbazar on Thursday which left four persons dead.
