Late Shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan's Shehnai has reportedly been stolen from his Varanasi home, in India, recent news reports revealed.
Nazim Hussain, Ustad's youngest son, said:"Bismillah Khan was known for his shehnai playing. I came to know about the incident two years back. But nobody from my family was concerned about it."
"I had demanded for a CBI enquiry. Along with the shehnai, some other instruments are also missing," he added, Times of India reports.
Adorned with the honorific title Ustad, the musician had brought Shehnai to a global stage and had increased its popularity internationally.
He was also the man behind bringing the Shehnai to the concert stage. He was honored with the Bharat Ratna in 2001.
