Noakhali road accident kills student

A teenage student was killed while another student was injured in Sonapur- Steamer ghat road, locals set fire on 2 buses, blocked road at Totar bajar, under the Subarnachar upazila in Noakhali on Sunday night.

The victim was identified as Nipu Chandra Nath who is a student of class eight of Haji Mosharaf Hossain High School, son of Sahadev Chandra Nath of village West Charbata and injured student is Kartik Chandra Mojumder and also student of class eight of the same school, son of Pritam Mojumder of the same village. The injured Kartik was admitted to Noakhali Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College Hospital.

A.K.M Enamul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Char Jabbar Police Station quoting the locals said, Nipu and Kartik were returning home by a bicyle after watching a football match. While they reached near Totar bajar, a Sonapur bound passenger bus hit their bicycle. Nipu died on the spot and Kartik was injured seriously. Locals immediately took them to Noakhali Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College Hospital where on duty doctor declared Nipu dead. After hearing the death news, agitated locals blocked the Sonapur- Steamerghat road and set fire on 2 buses.

On information, police reached the spot and took the situation under control after 4 hours by charging baton.

The body of Nipu was handed over to his relatives after autopsy.
