Dutch trade delegation due today

A high-level trade delegation from the Netherlands representing different sectors including Information Communication Technology (ICT), food security, logistics, technology, waste management, water management and shipping sectors is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka today to explore potential areas for collaboration.

The Netherlands wants to make Bangladesh a hub for their IT outsourcing, apart from extending technological support and collaboration in the areas of flood and water management.

Nyenrode Business University and Dutch Embassy in Dhaka are arranging the four-day visit, according to senior officials of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS).

On the top line, BASIS and Dutch Embassy in Dhaka will host a B2B matchmaking event on September 9 morning time at the BASIS auditorium. As part of the program, a seminar styled 'Investing in Bangladesh-practical information & key constraints' will be held on Tuesday morning.

Dutch IT delegation along with the Embassy officials and BASIS members will attend the seminar where state minister of foreign affairs Md. Shahriar Alam will attend the seminar as chief guest while the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will attend the program as special guest.

Around 50 BASIS member companies have already shown their interest in B2B meetings with Dutch companies, BAISIS sources also informed.

Same number of Bangladeshi IT companies will also attend a networking reception at the residence of the ambassador of the embassy of the Netherlands, said Badruddoza Mahmud Tuhin, assistant manager of BASIS.
