Nicole Kidman ‘very raw’ in Before I go to Sleep

“I was drawn to play Christine in ‘Before I go to Sleep’ because I liked the idea that she could be just very raw,” said gorgeous Nicole Kidman.  The British mystery thriller film, adapted and directed by Roland Joffe, is based on a 2011 novel by S J Watson and has been released in UK on September 5.

On her role, Kidman said: “I wear very little make-up and I’m really distressed for a lot of the film. I liked having to be very authentic and real and still trying to piece things together, navigating through to the end and keeping a semblance of not hysteria but distress.”

Nicole Kidman plays Christine, a woman who wakes up every day and can’t remember what happened the day before as the result of a previous head injury. What is painfully frustrating soon turns morbidly sinister as she desperately tries to discover what happened to her, resulting in an appearance that is the polar opposite of her previous glossy princess “Grace of Monaco” role.

“I like the idea of exposing myself for different characters—sometimes you have to look extraordinary, sometimes you have to look haggard,” said the actress. “And It’s a great thing when you go in and you’re only in the make-up chair for ten minutes—that’s really good because the call times are early on movies,” she added.
