Aftab Uddin Biplob, the son of ruling party leader Abu Taher of Lakshmipur, has been transferred secretly to Lakshmipur Jail from Comilla Central Jail.
Jail super of Lakshmipur district Mahbubur Rahman said Biplob was brought back in Lakshmipur from Comilla on Saturday afternoon as per the order of Inspector General (Prisons).
The convict in three murder cases was shifted to Comilla jail on August 5, in the context of widespread brawl and media criticism across the country over the controversial arrangement of his marriage in the jail on August 1.
Biplob was brought in a micro-bus from Comilla after one month and two days, Lakshmipur SP Mahbubur said.
On August 1, Taher’s son Biplob married at Lakshmipur Jail, in face of countrywide criticism of this, was transferred to Comilla jail.
Biplob was pardoned by President Zillur Rahman in the advocate Nurul Islam murder case, in which he was given death sentence in 2011.
Later in 2012, the late president granted mercy to the convicted killer for the second time. His life sentence in each of two murder cases has been reduced to a 10-year imprisonment.
Biplob, who is now serving 10-year jail sentence, married Sanjida Akhter, an honours second year student of Lakshmipur Government College.
On December 2003, the Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal of Chittagong awarded Biplob death penalty for killing advocate Nurul Islam, district BNP's the then organising secretary.
He was abducted in 2000 and hacked to death.
Biplob also killed BNP activist Kamal and Shibir activist Mohsin in 2000.
He was awarded life term imprisonment in both the murder cases.
