DU sues admission test defaulters

Dhaka University authority has filed cases against eight students including the daughter of a High Court Justice, who were allegedly arrested for cheating during the university admission test for ‘C’ (Ga) unit on Friday.

DU acting proctor endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune on Saturday evening.

University chief security officer Kamrul Ahasan filed the cases against the accused on Friday night with several police stations, the proctor said.

On Friday, during the exam period seven admission seekers were held in exam halls with mobile phone handsets with answers. They were handed over to the nearer police station of the examination centres.

The university authority filed cases with New Market and Lalbag police stations.

The accused are Ahadur Rahman (roll-638410), Mehadi Hasan Sumon, Ershad Kabir Khan, Nurul Bashar Payel (roll-641446), Ariful Islam (roll-643409), Sanjana Binte Bashir (roll- 654025), Faisal Kabir ( roll- 648139) and Sagor Hossain (roll-649501).

Later, police released two of the detained Ariful Islam and Faisal Kabir on Friday and Sanjana Binte Bashir was not arrested.

DU acting proctor Amzad Ali told the Dhaka Tribune: “As being a female student, police freed Snajana Binte Bashir, but we do not how another two got released after arrest.”

DU authority will also file three cases against the members of fraud gang who were arrested form Azimpur with electronic devices on Friday, he added.
