Five people have been killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and human hauler in Dhuliakhal area on Habiganj Shayestaganj road.
Habiganj Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nazim Uddin confirmed about the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.
The deceased are Jasmine Akhter, 18, daughter of Sanjab Ali, Shamsu Mia, 60, son of Samar Uddin, of Uttar Sangar village of Baniachang upazila, fish business man Ksitis Das (55), Sajib Das, 50, of Purba Bulla village of Madhabpur upazila and Monir Hossain, 45, a food transport contractor of Chittagong Sadar.
Police officials said the incident took place when a Sylhet-bound bus from Habiganj collided head-on with a Habiganj-bound human hauler from Shayestaganj on Saturday morning, leaving three people dead on the spot and 12 others injured.
Later, two of the injured succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital.
The injured are now under treatment at Habiganj Sadar Hospital.
