Five children, including two siblings, have drowned in Sadar and Jagannathpur upazilas of Thakurgaon.
The deceased are Rifad, 10, his brother Fahid, 9, Nupur, 9, Latifur, 10 and Shakil, 7.
Rifad, Fahid, Nupur and Latifur were the students of Singia Government Primary School.
Locals said Rifad, Fahid, Nupur and Latifur drowned in a local pond in Jagannathpur upazila around 4pm, while taking bath. Later, their classmates noticed their bodies floating in the pond and informed locals.
Later, locals recovered the bodies from the water.
On the other hand, Shakil, son of Jamir Uddin, drowned in a local pond at the same time as he felt into the water while playing besides it. OC Mehdi Hasan of Thakurgaon Sadar police station confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.
