Police have filed a case against 227 Shibir leaders and activists, including the president of CU unit, over a gunfight between BCL and Shibir activists.
Hathajari police station Sub-Inspector Nurul Hakim filed the case around 9:45pm on Monday for hindering police activities.
Officer-in-Charge of the same police station Ismail Hossain said the case was filed under Explosive Substances Act, mentioning the names of some 107 out of 227 Shibir members.
On Sunday, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Islamic Chhatra Shibir (ICS) locked into a clash centring a dispute over playing football in the field.
At a stage, the clash turned into a gunfight while BCL men took position in front of Shah Jalal Hall while the Shibir activists took position inside Suhrawardy Hall.
Equipping with firearms, both the parties traded at least one hundred rounds of bullet where at least 25 crude bombs were exploded during the melee at the Suhrawardy Hall intersection.
Police also opened around 20 rounds of gunshots to bring the situation under control.
