At least three people were killed in road accidents in Gopalganj and Moulvibazar districts yesterday.
Our Gopalganj correspondent reports: A motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the district.
Gopalganj Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Md Jakir said the motorcyclist Tutul, 35, died on the spot as a trolley hit the motorcycle around 10am.
Locals blocked the highway for two hours after the accident creating traffic congestion on both sides of the road. The trolley driver was arrested, OC said.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent said two people including a schoolgirl were killed and 15 injured at Sreemangal upazila in the district.
The deceased were identified Lili Akther,14, a student of Bhairobganj High School and daughter of Belal Miah of East Bhagalpur village and Moju Miah,30, son of Arob Ali of Giasnogor village of Sadar upazila.
According to police and local sources, a bus from Moulvibazar town turned turtle around 9am on the Moulvibazar-Sreemangal road at Baruna in Bhairobgong Bazar area of Kalapur union as the driver lost control over the steering. Lili died on the spot and Moju succumbed to his injuries on the way to local hospital.
The other injured were sent to Moulvibazar 250-bed hospital.
