Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday asked Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain to start constructing lakes beside the new Kuril-Purbachal link road immediately. The premier also asked him to cancel the planning of constructing culverts beside the road.
The instruction was given during an informal discussion after the regular cabinet meeting held at the secretariat with the premier in the chair yesterday.
Several ministers who attended yesterday’s cabinet meeting confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the premier’s direction.
Junior Labour and Employment Minister Mojibul Haque Chunnu also admitted the issue.
The minister said the premier did not like the plan to construct culverts beside the new road as it might hamper the flow of water.
“The premier also asked the minister to start the construction of lakes soon,” he added.
Earlier, the housing and public works ministry made a decision to build culverts across the road.
