One person has gone missing as a sand-laden boat capsized in Bongshai River in Tangail's Mirzapur on Sunday.
The missing person has been identified as Alamgir Hossain, 35.
Boat labourer Mohammad Molla Mia, a survivor who swam ashore after the boat went down, told the Dhaka Tribune that they started their journey from Tangail's Bhuapur area for Gazipur after filling the engine-run boat with sand.
“Around 7am in the morning, another sand-laden trawler hit our boat. Unable to maintain its balance, the boat got capsized.”
During the accident, 15 labourers were on board.
Of the 15 labourers, 14 successfully managed to swam ashore but one person went missing.
Two of them were injured at this time.
Investigation Officer (IO) of Mirzapur police station Inspector Borhan Uddin said police and fire brigade have started rescue operation.
