Members of Border Guard Bangladesh arrested a young man on Friday night from Amrakhali area of the district for possession of cobra venom worth Tk100 crore.
BGB also seized a private car from the possession of the arrested Mohammad Miron Kazi, 28, who is the son of Akbar Kazi of Kathmari village under Benapole port police station.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team intercepted a Jessore-bound private car around 9pm and recovered 12 pounds and two ounces of the snake venom, kept in seven jars, from the trunk of the vehicle, said BGB-26 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, adding that the value of the seized venom would be about Tk100 crore.
The BGB men arrested Miron for carrying the venom and seized the car. Later, he was handed over to Benapole port police station.
