BCL expels 4 JU men, suspends hall committee

The central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League has suspended four leaders and activists of Maulana Bhashani Hall unit of Jahangirnagar University for their involvement in a factional clash on Saturday. The activities of the unit have been also suspended in a decision made by the ruling Awami League’s student wing, office secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League central committee Sheikh Russel told the Dhaka Tribune.

The suspended BCL leaders and activists are Anindya Baroi, general secretary of Moulana Bhashani Hall unit, Ishtehat Ahmed Bijoy, assistant secretary of the unit, Ekhtekharuzzaman Sanchay and Shanta Kumar Nath activist of the unit.

Sheikh Russel said: "BCL central committee has decided to suspend the hall committee and four leaders and activists for breaching code of conduct of the organisation."

Earlier, the authorities of Jahangirnagar University have suspended 16 activists of Chhatra League over a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Maulana Bhashani Hall unit over establishing supremacy that left 10 people injured on Thursday.
