A police personal has been killed and another official injured critically in a road accident at Biddigram Morr area on in Panchbibi upazila in the district on Friday.
The victim is Akhtar Hossain, a constable posted at Panchbibi police station in Joypurhat, son of late Alif Hossain from Birampur Upazila under Dinajpur distirct.
The injured is Shahidul Islam, sub-inspector of the same police station.
Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Panchbibi police station confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune about the death.
He said SI Shahidul Islam and Constable Akhter Hossain were on a motorcycle to conduct a drive following an arrest warrant and while crossing Biddigram Morr a microbus coming from the opposite direction hit the bike, leaving them critically injured.
They were rushed to Joypurhat Health Complex and the on-duty doctors later referred them to Shahid Ziaur Rahaman Medical College Hospital as their conditions deteriorated, said the OC.
Akhtar died on the way to the hospital, the police official added.
Shahidul is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
