Cultural Ministry and district administration, in a drive, have evicted several illegal establishments at Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore's Kuthi Bari in Kushtia on Thursday morning.
As per previous notice, Cultural Ministry's Joint Secretary Manjurul Rahmanan led the drive which evicted two Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), three houses and 30 shops from the 6 acres of land around 8am.
The drive was carried out in presence of Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Syed Belal Hossian, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Additional Police Superintendent (Crime) Sohel Reza and law enforcers as well.
Kushtia DC Syed Belal Hossian said: “The government acquired 6 acres of land near Rabindranath Tagore's Shilaidah Kuthi Bari to bring back its beauty but some locally influential people set up illegal establishments on the land.”
“As per the order of the court, the illegal establishments were evicted today [Thursday] so that Rabindranath Tagore's Shilaidah Kuthi Bari gets back its beauty,” he said.
