Dhaka made a flying start in the Walton Air Conditioner National (Under-19) Youth Women’s Handball Tournament with a thumping 27-3 victory over Rangamati at the M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium yesterday.
Kushtia also got off to a blazing start when they thrashed Mymensingh 23-4 in their opening game at the same venue while Jamalpur defeated Faridpur 11-2, and BJMC humiliated Shariatpur 32-0 at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Mirpur Indoor Stadium on the same day.
Earlier, Youth and Sports Minister Biren Sikder inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest while title sponsor Walton’s additional director, head of games and sports, FM Iqbal Bin Anwar was present as the special guest.
A total of 18 youth women’s handball teams, split into six groups, are taking part in the meet.
