5 of a family injured in Keraniganj fire

Five members of a family have received severe burn injures as a fire broke out at their house in Par Gendaria area of Dakhkhin Keraniganj early Thursday.

The injured were identified as Rafia Khatun, 50, her two daughters, Salma, 22, an audibly handicapped girl, Sonia, 11, and two sons Rokey, 18, and Akash, 14.

Detective Branch (DB) of police have arrested Inqilab news editor Rabiulla Robi from the office on Tuesday night.

The DB police raided the Inqilab office at 11:30pm at RK Mission road in the capital and arrested Robi, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The victim is Md Shaheed, Awami League general secretary of Sutrapur unit, said OC Khalilur Rahman Patwari of Sutrapur police station.

ISIS video purports to show beheading of US journalist

Islamic State insurgents posted a video on Tuesday purportedly showing the beheading of US journalist James Foley and images of another US journalist whose life they said depended on how the United States acts in Iraq.

The video, titled “A Message To America,” presented President Barack Obama with bleak options that could define America’s next phase of involvement in Iraq and the public reaction to it, potentially deepening his hand in a conflict he built much of his presidency on ending, reports Reuters.
