Artists express solidarity with Gaza

Drik is holding a fund-raising event “Appeal for Gaza” through the sale of paintings and photographs donated by artists from all over Bangladesh. The event was inaugurated on Monday evening and will continue till today 10am – 8pm.

The ceremony began with the performance of Gono Shongeet singer Kafil Ahmed who sang “Praan e Praan Melaboi Bole Rakhi.”

Ambassador of Palestine in Bangladesh, Shaher Mohammad, was present in the programme which was also attended by Saiful Islam, CEO of Drik, Shahidul Alam, managing director of Drik, artist Monirul Islam and students from Palestine living in Bangladesh.

Artists including Abdus Shakoor Shah, Abir Abdullah, Bishwajit Goswami, Jamal Ahmed, Jannatul Mawa, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Mohammad Anisul Hoque, Monirul Islam, Nasir Ali Mamun, Rokeya Sultana, Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, Saiful Huq Omi, Shahid Kabir, Shahidul Alam, Shishir Bhattachariya, Swapan Chowdhury, Taslima Akhter, Tapash Paul, Wakilur Rahman and many others have donated their artworks for this event. The event, a part of Drik’s “No more” public awareness campaign, is an appeal to all conscious citizens to stand in solidarity.  

The event also includes cultural performances - play, poem recitations, music – every evening. Today performing artist Ritu Satter, recitation artistes Rafiqul Islam and Ajharunnobi Rana, flautist Pronob Das and singers Labik Kamal Gourab and Waqeel Ahad will express empathy through their performances.

Special contributions has been made by Bellissimo(Kazi Food Industries), Bengal Meat, Meena Bazar, Okapia Mobile and Samsung Electronics.

The amount collected from the event will be donated for the Palestinian victims in Gaza.
