Language veteran Matin shifted to BSMMU

Language activist Abdul Matin has been shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Tuesday morning.

BSMMU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Pran Gopal Datta told the Dhaka Tribune that Abdul Matin was taken at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the morning.

"We have taken him [Matin] here from our moral responsibility as his condition is critical," he added.

Earlier on Monday, Abdul Matin was admitted to City Hospital in the capital after he suffered a stroke that partially paralysed him.

His wife told the media on Monday evening that Matin was first rushed to the National Heart Foundation in Mirpur, where doctors found about the stroke.

As the doctors there advised, Matin was then transferred to City Hospital where Electrocardiography (ECG) was recorded.

Matin, who is now 88, has been suffering from old age complications for the past 17 years.
