Noted film director Belal Ahmed died of a cardiac arrest at Square Hospital in the capital this morning at the age of 64.
Belal Ahmed felt chest pain and was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at 11.30am today, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, general secretary of Film Directors Association, said.
He left behind his wife and a son to mourn his death.
He directed many leading Bengali feature films such as 'Nayaner Alo, Nagor Dola, Bandhan, 'Sangkhonil Karagar', 'Onishchito Jatra'.
Besides, his last film 'Tabuo Bhalobashi', was released in association with Impress Telefilm.
He will be buried at Banani Graveyard after namaj-e-janaza at the Film Development Corporation (FDC) after the Asar prayer.
