Uncontrolled waste disposal spreading disease

Uncontrolled waste disposal is choking the by-pass road, an important thoroughfare on the East of Habiganj municipality, causing immense sufferings to passersby.

The untreated waste is also spreading malodour and various diseases posing health hazard to thousands of people. Passersby allege that wastes are being regularly dumped by Habiganj municipality on two sides of the road, which opens up to three important establishments, Brindabon Government College, Kibria Municipality Auditorium and an under-construction modern stadium.

As a result, the road is getting narrower and the drainage system clogged, causing water-logging and traffic congestion. When it rains, the malodorous waste spills over to the town making the situation worse. Thousands of people who commute on this road on a daily basis are falling victim to the uncontrolled garbage disposal. They demanded the Habiganj municipality to clear the area and dispose off the garbage in a proper place.

Habiganj municipality Panel Mayor Abul Hasim said, they had been aware of the situation and would soon take measures to remove the waste. He also apologised to the people for temporary inconvenience.
