Who can forget the famous dance-off between Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit in the song Dola Re from “Devdas.” Although, Paro and Chandramukhi never came face-to-face in Saratchandra Chatterjee's “Devdas” but director Sanjay Leela Bhansali made the two characters meet in his film.
Now in his upcoming film Bajirao Mastani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to show a dance-off between his Mastani Deepika Padukone and Kashibai Priyanka Chopra. Kashirao and Mastani, the two women whom the Maratha warrior Peshwa Baji Rao loved, will be given scenes of confrontation and a dramatic song-and-dance sequence.
While Deepika is playing the title role, Priyanka's role has been rewritten to suit her stature as an actor. Ranveer Singh is playing Bajirao in the film.
"Kashibai's role according to Bhansali's script was never a walk-over, not even when 8 years ago when Kareena Kapoor was to play Mastani and Rani Mukherjee was to play Kashibai. Now with Deepika and Priyanka playing the two parts, Bhansali has modified the characters accordingly," a leading portal quotes its source.
The audience is eagerly waiting to see the dance-off between the two leading ladies of Bollywood with the hope that it matches to what Aishwarya and Madhuri did in Devdas.
