Police recovered a rotted body of a housewife yesterday at Khulna’s Boyra area.
Police said the victim, Dipali Odhikari, 35, might have been strangled to death three days ago, adding that locals had informed the police when a bad smell had permeated through the area.
Sonadanga police station Sub-Inspector Akram Hossain said the body was recovered after breaking the lock of the house, and it was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Puja Odhikari, the victim’s younger sister, said Kalidas Odhikari, the victim’s husband, had informed them that he was in India with his 14-month-old son.
He also expressed worries that he was not being able to contact Dipali. Consequently, Puja went to Boyra to look for her sister but found the house locked from the outside.
Sonadanga police station OC Maruf Ahmed said Kalidas was unemployed and dependent on his wife.
