Journalist Obaidul Gani Chandan dies

Noted journalist and feature editor of the vernacular daily 'Dainik Manabkantha' Obaidul Gani Chandan died of a cardiac arrest this morning at the age of 40.

Family sources said he was sleeping with one of his friends at his Uttara residence. Chandan fell sick at 10.15am and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The body of the journalist is now kept at his working place at Gulshan. After his first Namaj-e-janaza at Manabkantha office, the body would be taken to his residence.

Chandan was a prominent rhyme and feature writer, who also worked for different newspapers and private television channels as including Dainik Ittefaq, Independent Television, Boishakhi and Bangla Vision.
