3 artistes to perform at IGCC today

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh is organising an evening of Rabindra Sangeet by Nasima Khan, Fahima Samad and Farah Dina Gunjan at their Gulshan premises today 6:30pm.

Nasima Khan was initially inspired to learn music by his father. She trained in “Munshi RaisUddin Sangeet Academy,” where she completed the five year course. She has also learnt music from Gaur Gopal Halder in Jessore, Anup Barua and Mita Huq. Nasima has been practising Rabindra Sangeet from more than 20 years. She is a regular singer in BTV.

Fahima Samad’s lessons started with Tagore songs under the guidance of Nil Utpal Shadhya back in 1986, which assisted her in achieving “Pratham Maan” at the competition organised by Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Shommilon Parishad. In 1994, she obtained Indian Government sponsored ICCR scholarship and attended the highly reputed “Gandharva Mahavidyalaya,” besides being a pupil of Sunanda Ghosh and advanced with her practice with Tagore songs. She is a regular performer at the Bangladesh radio and television.

Farah Dina Gunjon has been taking lessons on classical music from Ustad Robiul Hossain and Ustad Srimoti Monjusri Roy. Her initial lessons had been under the supervision of Wahidul Huq. Later, her practice has continued under the guidance of Mita Huq. In 1999, she performed at “SAARC Inter University Youth Festival” arranged by Gulbarga University at the Indian state of Karnataka.
