Man with a fake address gets job as health assistant

A man has been selected to be a health assistant, despite having given a fake address when applying for the job, at Bairachuna Union Parishad’s Ward No-1 in Thakurgaon’s Pirganj upazila.

The authorities recently chose him for the post, even though they had been made aware of his fake address a long time ago.

Earlier, on March 3, there was a test for recruiting 33 people for as many posts in the district. One post was for Ward No-1 at the upazila’s Bairachuna Union Parishad.

After the written results were out, five people were selected for the lone post at the ward.

Of the five, three had faked their addresses, claiming that they were from the Ward No 1, though they were from other wards, simply to be recruited as health assistants there.

Mokarram Hossain, who hails from Ward No 3, has been asked to join his office by July 31.

When Thakurgaon Civil Surgeon Afzal Hossain was asked about it, he evaded the issue and said he (Mokarram) would lose his job if police verification was not satisfactory.

Rangpur Divisional Deputy Director (health) Md Nuruzzaman said a person’s permanent address is certified by a Union Parishad chairman’s citizenship certificate.

“However, I will take action after looking into this,” he said.
