Eight killed in road accidents across 3 districts

At least eight people were killed in road accidents in Gopalganj, Kushtia and Madaripur districts yesterday.

Our Gopalganj correspondent reports: Four people were killed and 15 injured at Maksudpur upazila in the district as a passenger bus plunged into roadside ditch.

SI Abdus Salam said Abbas, 35, of Taparkandi village, Sohrab Sheikh,30, son of Osman Sheikh in Sibrampur village, Abejan Begum, 55, and Ali Asraf, 40, were killed as the bus plunged into the ditch when its driver lost control over the steering. he injured were sent to local hospitals and clinics.

Kushtia correspondent said a phsician was killed after a bus collided with a private car in Baromail area of Veramara upazila.

Seven others were also injured in the accident.

The deceased was Ameerul Islam, 48, son of Dr Abul Hossain from Customs Mor area of Veramara upazila.

He was resident doctor of Veramara Health Complex.

Witnesses said a Dhaka bound passenger bus collided head-on with Ameerul’s private car near Baro Mile area around 10am.

The gas cylinder of the private car exploded at the collision, leaving Ameerul dead on the spot. The injured were sent to Kushtia General Hospita

Faridpur correspondent said three people were killed and 25 injured in an accident on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway in Tekerhat Port area.

Local sources said a passenger bus of Shah Farid Copany Ltd plunged into road side ditch leaving its passengers Russel, Ali Akbar, Abezan Begum dead on the spot.
