The body of a tourist, who went missing on Saturday while swimming in the Piyain river at Jaflong, has been recovered from the area on Sunday morning.
The deceased is Jasim Uddin, 24, son of Ali Akbar Hawlader under Fatullah upazila of Narayanganj.
Sylhet Fire Service personnel recovered the body around 12pm after a 12-hour effort, Goainghat Police Station Sub-Inspector Arif told the Dhaka Tribune.
Jasim went missing while he was swimming with his family members near zero point of the Piyain river on Saturday evening amid administrative ban on swimming in the river, Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Goainghat police station said.
Earlier on July 31, three tourists were killed as a boat capsized in Piyain river.
The district administration issued a warning note disallowing travelers to swim in the Piyain river for security reasons.
