One woman died and another five people have been injured after a collision occurred between two launches near additive ferry terminal at Madrasa road of Chandpur city on Sunday.
The victim is Fahima Begum, 28 wife of Delwar Hossain from Malopara village under Kodalpur Union of Shariatpur district and the injured are her husband Delwar Hossain, 35, daughters Khadiza, 6, Manki, 5 Manik and Mizan.
Witnesses said, a collision between MV Prince of Russel and MV Raf Raf crushed an engine of the boat at Chandpur launch terminal and after the incident the boat sank immediately on the shore leaving the passengers to drown.
Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers immediately.
The injured were admitted to Chandpur Sadar Hospital where on duty doctors declared Fatima dead.
Dr Mahmudunabi Masum confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune.
