DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed has claimed that police had not acted hardhearted on the agitated workers of Tuba garments on Thursday.
He said: “The Tuba Group workers had been dispersed from factory on security purpose.”
The DMP boss made the statement while addressing a book launching programme at capital’s Police Lines auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
“Many assumed that we beat the workers up to prevent their protest. But the fact is that if police wanted to do so, then we can do it on the very first day,” he added.
Terming workers' protest as “streetocracy”, Banazir said the new way of protest could never find a good solution but people strangely go for this if anything happened around them.
