Savar Foundation continues its Rehabilitation Efforts

The Savar Foundation, a charitable organisation targeted towards the relief and rehabilitation of victims of the Savar Rana Plaza disaster which happened a year back, is continuing its work.

On July 26, it has donated Tk 160,000 to family members of four garment workers who died in the catastrophic accident. The cash amounts were handed over to the victims’ families at the Adhar Chandra High School in Savar.

Sabina Yesmin, who worked in a garments factory at Rana Plaza, was the primary source of earning in her family. After she died, the family has been suffering a lot, because of not having received enough compensation from the authorities. Cash help of Tk 40,000 has been provided to her husband Ashraf Ali.

Sujit Saha also worked in the same building and suffered the same fate. Monetary help has also been provided to his family, his mother Nila Saha receiving the contribution.

Rehabilitation money was also provided to Gita Rani Ghosh, mother of Dipongkar Saha and Nimai Chondro Sarkar, father of Pushpo Rani Sarkar.

The foundation, started soon after the accident last year, is led by Mahdin Mahboob, faculty member of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and has so far raised and distributed over Tk 400,000 for the victims of the Rana Plaza collapse.
