Ex-minister LK Siddiqui dies

Former Deputy Speaker Engineer LK Siddiqui, also ex-water resources minister, died at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore yesterday morning at the age of 75.

“BNP Vice-Chairman LK Siddiqui, who was suffering from a respiratory disease, breathed his last around 10:45am,” said Aslam Chowdhury, general secretary of BNP Chittagong district (north) unit.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 9:30am on Sunday, according to Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, president of BNP Chittagong city unit.

He added that Siddiqui will be buried at his family graveyard in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong on Sunday after namaz-e-janaza at Jamiatul Falah Mosque, Chattagram Ma O Shishu Hospital and his native village.

LK Siddiqui was elected Member of Parliament in 1979, 1991, 1996 (6th parliamentary election held on February 15) and 2001 from Chittagong 4 (Sitakunda) constituency.
