The District administration has imposed ban on bathing and swimming in Piain river in Jaflong of Sylhet following the death of five tourists.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam said: “The local administration has imposed the temporary ban. The law enforcers, led by Goainghat UNO and OC, will be carrying out their duties on the spot from Friday morning.”
“They will monitor the entire situation. We have taken the step to ensure tourists' safety.” Local newsman Manjur told the Dhaka Tribune: “The local administration has already circulated the news in the area by miking.
Additional members of police, BGB and VDP have already been deployed in the area.” Earlier on Thursday, five eid holiday makers have died while taking bath in the river.
