Three members of a family including a police sergeant have been killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Batisha in Chouddagram upazila on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, 52, a sergeant of Brahmanbaria District Police, his wife Lovely, 35, and their minor daughter Nuzhat, 3.
Quoting Chouddagram police station Officer-in-Charge Uttam Kumar, UNB reported.
The accident took place around 8 am when a tyre of a private car carrying the police sergeant and his family burst and crashed into the railing of a bridge, leaving sergeant Nazrul and his daughter dead on the spot, and injuring Lovely.
The police sergeant and his family were returning from his home village at Chhagalnaiya in Feni to his workplace in Brahmanbaria after a 3-day holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
